Smallholder farmers are the backbone of the Kenyan economy. Yet, most farmers struggle to access the high-quality inputs or advice they need to thrive. Farm Shop is radically changing that by blending franchising efficiency with a commitment to generating value for smallholder farmers, their families and communities. Our model is simple. We strive to bring together the three key ingredients for smallholder success: products, information and financing.

Products: Farm Shop has built and manages relationships with leading agricultural suppliers in Kenya to secure access to the highest-quality and most innovative products on the market.

Information: Farm Shop identifies entrepreneurs operating as close to farmer fields as possible. We go beyond big towns and set up shop right in the heart of our target communities. These shops are staffed by trained agronomists and livestock health workers and run by experienced business people. Aside from serving as a sales outlet for Farm Shop products, the shops become the center point for a range of extension, training and awareness creation activities including farmer clinics, product promotions and a network of Farm Shop demonstration sites.

Finance: Farm Shop is building our capacity to couple access to agricultural inputs with access to agricultural finance. By partnering with MFIs and farmer cooperatives, Farm Shop is ensuring farmers not only have access to the products they need but that they can afford them.
